MinuteClinic, the medical clinic inside select CVS/pharmacy® stores, is the largest provider of retail health care in the United States.
Our family nurse practitioners and physician assistants provide convenient, quality medical care to adults and children. We're open every day, evenings and weekends, with no appointment needed. And we accept most insurance plans.
We're also the only retail health care provider to receive three consecutive accreditations from The Joint Commission, the national evaluation and certifying agency for nearly 19,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. After more than 18 million patient visits, we're proud of our 95% customer satisfaction rating.
Our family nurse practitioners and physician assistants can:
- Diagnose, treat and write prescriptions* for common family illnesses such as strep throat, bladder infections, pink eye, and infections of the ears, nose and throat
- Provide common vaccinations for flu, pneumonia, pertussis and hepatitis, among others
- Treat minor wounds, abrasions, joint sprains, and skin conditions such as poison ivy, ringworm, lice and acne
- Provide a wide range of wellness services, including sports and camp physicals, health screenings, TB testing, a weight loss program, and the Start to Stop® smoking cessation program
- Offer routine lab tests, instant results and education for those with diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Our clinics are staffed by certified family nurse practitioners and physician assistants who provide care for a variety of common medical conditions and prescribe medication when medically appropriate.* They also can administer vaccinations, physicals and other wellness services.
Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with advanced training, experience and education. Physician assistants are health-care professionals licensed to practice medicine under a collaborative agreement with physicians.

When you arrive at a clinic, if you have an appointment you’ll need to sign in at our kiosk or use the link sent in your confirmation text or email. If you do not have an appointment, please use to kiosk to select the next available time.
When it's your turn, the practitioner will bring you into the clinic exam room and conduct your visit. Depending on the care needed, this will include gathering relevant medical history, conducting an examination, performing diagnostic tests or administering a vaccination.
At the end of your visit, the practitioner will review your results and provide instructions and recommendations. This may include a prescription, which you may fill it at the pharmacy of your choice. Your insurance or payment will be processed as well.
The practitioner can send a copy of your visit summary to your primary care provider with your permission.
Every patient visit follows nationally established, evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. Our practitioners use these guidelines and an Electronic Medical Records system to ensure that all procedures are followed consistently across all of our locations. You can be sure you get the same great medical care at any of our clinics across the country.
In several markets, MinuteClinic is affiliated with leading health systems to enhance access to high-quality health care. These affiliations improve coordination of medical care for patients.
Yes, we want to make sure your primary care provider has information about your visit. Our practitioners will provide you with a summary of your visit and can also send a copy to your primary care provider with your permission.
If you don't have a primary care provider, our practitioners can provide a list of local hospitals, urgent care centers and physicians accepting new patients. We also provide a list of free or low-cost providers in the area.
An appointment is recommended to guarantee that you will be seen and reduce wait time. However, walk-in appointments are also available. Walk-in appointments can be made at the kiosk when you come in. They are based on availability and do not guarantee you will be seen.
Our clinics are open seven days a week, including evenings and weekends. Hours vary by clinic. Find a clinic or call 1-866-389-ASAP (2727) for clinic operating hours.
We accept most insurance plans and are continually adding new plans. To see if we accept your health plan, search online now or contact your insurance provider.
Insurance plans and medical coverage can vary. If you have questions about coverage, please contact your health plan. The phone number is usually on the back of your insurance card. Let them know you are seeking medical care at MinuteClinic and they should be able to confirm if your service will be covered and advise you of any co-pays, co-insurance or deductible costs.
If your service is not covered by your insurance, you are uninsured or you prefer to pay out-of-pocket, we also accept cash, checks and credit cards.
We offer the same high-quality care you expect from an urgent care center or emergency department but our services do vary. Urgent care centers offer expanded services, including X-rays. Emergency rooms are best for medical care when you are experiencing a life-threatening illness or injury such as a heart attack or severe bleeding.

MinuteClinic employs physician assistants in CT, DC, MD, MI, MN, NC, NE, NM, NV, OH, RI, SC, TN and TX.
If you are currently a Target Clinic guest, your clinic will be changing to MinuteClinic. You do not need to do anything. Target and MinuteClinic will take care of everything for you at your first MinuteClinic visit. Your recent medical file will be available for the provider to access, and MinuteClinic Patient Support can help with questions regarding your patient file 1-866-389-ASAP (2727). If you are currently a MinuteClinic patient, after the Target Clinic near you has transitioned, you will be able to visit a MinuteClinic inside a Target store if that is more convenient for you.
