What is a college physical?

College physicals differ from annual wellness physicals. Instead of a wide-ranging assessment of your general health, these special-purpose exams are designed to confirm that your health is sufficient to participate in specific activities. An administrative or college physical exam is not intended to replace an annual wellness exam.

  3. When it's time for your appointment, a provider will call your name.
  4. Your provider will conduct a thorough examination based on your reason for visit, presenting symptoms and health history. Charges will be based on examination and services provided during the visit.
  5. At the end of your visit, you are provided with a visit summary, receipt and educational material about your diagnosis. At your request, we can send your primary care provider information about your visit.

College physical causes, symptoms and treatment

Some colleges and universities require students to have a physical exam before they can start classes. MinuteClinic® providers are available for students to complete the paperwork needed for their registration.

College physical prevention

Your practitioner will review your medical history and immunizations and perform a physical exam.

Bring any required documents, including a completed health and immunization history. Your provider can verify vaccinations given at MinuteClinic or with proper documentation, immunizations administered by another health care provider.

Parents/Guardians are reminded to fill out the parents' sections of all the necessary forms before the visit. Doing so this expedites the physical exam process. Please collect the following medical information to bring to the examination:

  • All documentation per the respective organization's requirements
  • Immunization history and records
  • Primary care provider's name and contact information
  • Relevant health and medical history, including any allergies, current medications and existing medical conditions

While specific requirements vary, the physical exam session will provide you with an opportunity to discuss important healthcare matters with your MinuteClinic provider. They can help you to be informed about your health

MinuteClinic providers can perform college physicals. They can review your medical history, conduct an exam and recommend additional tests and diagnostics if necessary. Following the visit, your MinuteClinic provider will fill out the required medical forms with the details of the physical assessment.
