Get your flu shot early

Along with making you feel awful, the flu can be deadly for some. In either case, why risk it? Get your annual flu shot, available on a drop-in basis, and keep yourself and your family healthy. Flu season may kick off as soon as October, and it takes up to two weeks to provide full protection, so don’t put it off.

You may be aware of some urban myths that surround the flu, so let’s take care of these right here. Some of these myths include:

  • After Thanksgiving is too late for a shot: The flu typically peaks in January or February but can occur up until May. It’s never too late for a shot.
  • A flu injection gives you the flu: The shot itself is made with an inactive virus that is not infectious or with no flu virus at all, so the shot cannot give you the flu. You may still get ill; however, the symptoms will be much less severe if you have received a flu shot.
  • You don’t need annual shots: Flu viruses continuously change, so the vaccine is reviewed annually as well for required updates. The CDC recommends the flu shot annually for those six months and older.

Full range of immunizations available

School-age children need specific vaccines before each school year. Our staff can administer a full range of immunizations, including MMR, polio, Tdap, HPV, meningitis and more. For teens needed updates or seniors requiring protection from pneumonia, our clinic has those vaccines, as well as those for hepatitis A and B, shingles and more.
