Carolina Beach is one of those rare places that is beautiful year-round and that enjoys semi-decent temperatures every season. You should take advantage of that fact by staying healthy enough to embrace the outdoors when the rest of the country is sick in bed with the cold, flu or some other seasonal illness. The professionals at our MinuteClinic®, located right inside our CVS Pharmacy® at Dow Road North and Risley Road, can help you maintain your health with immunizations and well checks. When you do feel under the weather, we can see you and prescribe a treatment plan that will get you back on your feet in no time. You will find us across the street from Flaming Amy's Burrito Barn and down the way from Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce.
Routine healthcare services
At our MinuteClinic®, we don't pick and choose our patients by age. Whether you're sick with the cold or your two-year-old is sick with the flu, we are more than happy to perform a routine examine, offer treatment advice and, if necessary, prescribe the medications you need to get better. Some minor conditions our medical professionals are qualified to treat are as follows:
- Upper respiratory infections
- Ear infections
- Sinus infections
- Cold and flu
- Nausea and vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Heartburn and indigestion
- Conjunctivitis
- Eczema
- Allergies
- Asthma
Our licensed nurse practitioners and physicians' assistants are also qualified to treat minor injuries, such as burns and lacerations. We also perform routine physicals and offer select women's health services. If you need your blood pressure read or your cholesterol checked, we can perform both those services as well.
Immunizations are helpful for all ages
Too many people assume that the only individuals who need to be immunized are school-aged children. That is simply not the case. Every person can benefit from immunizations for common diseases such as whooping cough, tetanus, rotavirus, influenza, polio and meningitis. If you and your loved ones are at least 18 months of age and older and are healthy for all intents and purposes (meaning, you're not pregnant, you're not over the age of 65 and you don't have an immunodeficiency disorder), talk to our practitioners about completing your vaccination schedule. Some vaccines you should consider getting include the following:
- MMR
- Tdap
- HPV
- IPV
- PVC
- Rotavirus
- Chickenpox
In addition to the above vaccines, which offer almost lifetime immunity with the possible need for a booster, you should also get the annual flu shot. The flu shot, though not 100 percent effective, can help your body fight the virus should you contract it. With the vaccine, your symptoms will be milder and your risk of developing dangerous or even fatal complications will be much worse. Call us at 1-866-389-2727 to make sure that we have the vaccine in stock before you head down.
Walk-ins are more than welcome
Our MinuteClinic® accepts both walk-ins and appointments. If you want to beat the crowds, call ahead, but if you're just in the area and decide you want a well check, or if you need quick, hassle-free and last-minute medical attention, we're waiting for you. For step-by-step driving directions, Google "find a walk in clinic near me."
